Night of “San Juan”. ( Saint John)
On June 23, the summer solstice, we celebrate the magical night of San Juan, ancient festival celebrating in all cultures, with the beginning of summer, the moment of maximum sunlight, the longest day of the year. A night that brings us to the mysterious folklore of Galicia.
Around this event it is associated with a popular tradition around magic and “the hereafter”…”alén” in Galician lenguage. Majestic rise flames to scare witches and evil spirits, in line with the saying “..En San Xoán, meigas e bruxas fuxirán ” . Retreating fire, it is customary to jump several times.
